Accident and Personal Injury Lawyers in Dubai

Compensation claims for people injured in road, workplace and other accidents in Dubai, and for families who have lost someone.

In short: if someone else caused your accident in Dubai, you can claim compensation for medical costs, lost income, permanent disability and moral damages under the UAE Civil Transactions Law. Road accident claims are usually made against the at-fault driver's insurer. The value of the claim depends mainly on two documents created in the first days: the official accident report that allocates fault, and the medical reports that record the injury.

Insurers often make an early offer based on their own assessment. Accepting it before the medical position is clear can mean giving up most of the claim. We review the offer against what a court is likely to award and advise whether to settle or file.

How an Accident Claim Works in Dubai

  1. Accident report. The official report records who was at fault, often in percentages. That allocation drives both the insurance settlement and any court claim, so it should be challenged quickly if it is wrong.
  2. Criminal stage. Where someone is injured or killed, the at-fault driver is usually prosecuted for a traffic offence. A final criminal judgment establishing fault strengthens the civil claim.
  3. Medical assessment. Once treatment stabilises, a medical committee can assess any permanent disability. Settling before this stage usually undervalues the claim.
  4. Claim against the insurer. The claim is submitted to the insurer and, if disputed, taken through the insurance dispute process and then the civil courts.
  5. Judgment and enforcement. The court awards compensation, which is paid by the insurer and enforced through the execution court if needed.

Time Limits

Under the Civil Transactions Law, a claim for harm generally has to be brought within three years from the date the injured person became aware of the harm and who was responsible. Other deadlines, such as appeal periods and insurance notice terms, are much shorter. Start early and keep every document.

Workplace Accidents

An employee injured at work is entitled to treatment at the employer's cost and to compensation under the UAE Labour Law, and may have a further civil claim if the employer was negligent. See our labour lawyers.

Mistakes That Reduce Compensation

  • Signing an insurer's release form before the disability assessment.
  • Not keeping receipts for treatment, transport and home care.
  • Missing the deadline to object to the fault allocation.
  • Gaps in treatment, which insurers use to argue the injury was minor.

How HT Lawyers Handles Accident Claims

We build the claim from the report, the medical file and the income evidence, deal with the insurer, and take the case to court if the offer is too low. Where the injury comes from medical treatment rather than the accident itself, our medical negligence lawyers take over, and our civil lawyers handle other compensation claims.

Frequently Asked Questions

General guidance on this area of law. Advice on your own case requires your documents.

How Much Compensation Can I Get For A Car Accident In Dubai?

It depends on the injury, any permanent disability percentage, lost income and medical costs. There is no fixed table for injuries. For a death, the heirs can claim diya (blood money) and further compensation.

How Long Do I Have To Claim After An Accident In The UAE?

A civil claim for harm generally has to be brought within three years from when you knew of the harm and who caused it. Act sooner, because evidence and shorter procedural deadlines matter.

Can I Claim If I Was Partly At Fault?

Yes. Compensation is usually reduced in proportion to your share of fault as recorded in the accident report or decided by the court.

Should I Accept The Insurance Company's First Offer?

Not before your medical condition has stabilised and any disability has been assessed. Early offers often leave out future care and loss of earnings.

Can A Pedestrian Or Passenger Claim Compensation In Dubai?

Yes. Pedestrians and passengers injured by an insured vehicle can claim against that vehicle's insurer, even though they were not driving.

Do I Need A Lawyer For An Accident Claim In Dubai?

Not for minor claims. For serious injuries, a lawyer usually improves the outcome because insurers value claims differently from the courts, and filings must be made in Arabic.
